While we were in Thailand for a wedding, we also made time to travel around Bangkok and do some sightseeing. I had been previously for work but only a couple of days, and it was Erika’s first time. So, we made the most of it! One of our favorite things we discovered was that the King, back in the day, had traveled to India and seen the massages that the monks were able to give to the people. He came back to Thailand and told his monks to “figure it out” and then made massage a part of the national healthcare plan everyone had. Because of that, the temples all have (or most anyway) massage schools attached to them that offer services for extremely cheap, available to all. So, we certainly took advantage of that! Anyway, on to the pictures.
This alligator has certainly seen better days, but perhaps none more stylish!
We got on the “SNO-OPY” boat and made our way down to one of the main temples. It was amazing how detailed everything was!
See what I’m talking about with the detail? Also, that’s a lotta feet! Haha. I guess I didn’t take any pictures of it, but it’s a giant buddha statue that’s reclining. Maybe 200 feet long. Wild.
Some night shots I got as we were leaving the temple. There was this black cat dancing on the wall (or stretching…) that I was able to capture. There was quite a bright light on next to the cat, but it looks like its well fed – look how shiny that fur is!
Erika and I got matching outfits, haha. Here’s some more shots of us out and about. We went to a fun night club for dinner and a show one evening. It was quite eventful! Then just some street shots you can hopefully get a vibe of the city from.
Here’s another temple we went to. You can see how everything is covered (or made out of) Gold! So much gold! Plus some detail images showing the amazing craftsmanship. It’s pretty amazing to walk through it, feels like you’re on the set of some movie or exploring some ancient region.
More detail just walking around. The plants were very pretty here, lots of natural ornamentation for sure!
Some fun walking shots and then our last night we had dinner in this crazy mall. There was a waterfall feature in the middle that had light shows somehow. Really cool! and then this area with all the lanterns looked like a street food festival, but it was indoors. Pretty neat to see overall and was a great time. Thanks for reading!
