We went up to Nago (about 2/3 the way north on the island) to see the Cherry Blossom Festival! It was a pretty rainy day that ended up cancelling the parade (for the most part), and we were about a week or so early to see most of the blossoms…but we did have quite a few friends go up with us, so it was a good day overall!
As you can see, a pretty grey rainy day. But I did find a good boy to take a picture of. He was looking so lovingly at a piece of food he was about to eat, haha. The Orion building there is where they brew the local Okinawa beer. It’s pronounced “O-ree-on” though some people do call it “O-ryan” haha. It’s not bad! The cherry blossoms were trying to come out but still a bit early.
This bridge is named the Cherry Blossom Bridge, so it was important to go for a walk down it during the festival. It’s located in a park that’s the site of an old castle that has long been destroyed. Now it’s a quite jungly area that has some pathways traversing it, but is mostly been reclaimed by nature, haha. From the city overlook, you can see we’ve gained quite a bit of elevation!
Still got some good shots! The stone lanterns lines the path up the mountain. I unfortunately didn’t get a good shot of them, womp womp.

I really like this picture of the bike. It reminds me of a Florida beach town or something. I guess Nago is technically a beach town, but not quite the same. Anyway, next, here’s a bunch of people shots I grabbed along the way.
The Oasis guy is my favorite, haha. They closed down some of the streets so people could be out in them hanging out and having a good time. Despite the rain, there were quite a few people that came out, there was music and food trucks, and a general festive atmosphere. Overall, a great time!
